As a part of the English programme in Cultural Week at Luyfe, our students from Primary Education have been working on Puppet Shows to present to the little children in Infant Education. They are having a great time in class while practising for their shows.

Each class has been divided into groups and they have created a script to tell a story. They were provided with the following characters in order to invent a story appropriate for our infants:

–    Snow White
–    Beaver
–    Squirrel
–    Frog
–    Knight
–    Girl
–    Doctor
–    Princess
–    Prince
–    Witch

Some of the students have also brought in puppets that they had at home, such as a shark, a crocodile and even a caveman! Others, are so motivated, that they have created their own puppets by using felt or recycled materials like socks.

The children also have the possibility of making backdrops and props to help them on the day of the show to make it more visual, so our little children will pay more attention and they will better understand the story.

Some groups have included simple songs in their scripts to motivate the audience, such as the Baby Shark song. Our students know that they have to use simple vocabulary because our infants are just starting to learn English, so some of them have included numbers and colours in their scripts, and they will make our little children participants of the show by helping them to count in English or to guess the colour of something.

The students are really enjoying doing this activity and at the same time they are practising their writing skills when inventing the script. They are also improving their speaking skills as they have to speak out loud when telling their story.

Here are some photos of children from year 5 practising in class!! I hope you enjoy them, and we are sure that our little students will have fun while watching these amazing Puppet Shows!!
