It’s that time of year again! Christmas is just around the corner and the English Theatre Group has once again put on a great Christmas Pageant. On the eve of 11 December the atmosphere at Luyferivas was one of excitement and anticipation. The dressing rooms were filled with students and helpful parents putting on costumes and makeup, while throngs of families and friends filled the theatre.

The show kicked off with the group led by Miss Kate performing Supergirls Saving Christmas. It was a hilarious show with the most unimaginable combination of characters working together to save Christmas. Smurfette (played by Paula Rico) took it upon herself to help an ugly elf (Miss Kate) to save Christmas, since Santa and Mama Claus were trapped in a snow storm. Princess Leia (Ariadna Donoso) and Rey (Violeta Fernández) brought laughter to the theatre with their antics as they retrieved the Millenium Falcon to use it as a sleigh. Nadia García showed great talent on stage and charmed the audience as Olafa. The show ended with the whole group singing Under the Snow, a great rendition of Under the Sea, followed by an unexpected snowball fight with the audience.  The young actors had a great time on stage and filled the theatre with laughter, both their own and from the spectators.

The second show of the evening was An Out of the Box Christmas performed by Miss Lisa’s group. Most of the actors in this group have been involved in theatre for several years now and it was evident by their star performance. In this show, the students are at the final dress rehearsal of their Christmas pageant when they realise that they have the wrong costumes. The three Wise Men are now cowboys, the shepherds are pirates and the angels are cheerleaders. Gonzalo Valenzuela, who played the part of SuperGabe (Gabriel the angel turned super hero), did another fabulous performance true to all of his work. His stage presence is unbeatable! But it was Daniela Ferrero in the role of the director of the Christmas Pageant who stole the show. Daniela really took on the part and her gestures, facial expression and impressive English level made for a most convincing drama teacher in the face of a theatrical crisis.

Thank you to all of the students, teachers and parents who helped to make this night such a huge success. We look forward to seeing you at our summer production in June!
