Drama Club. The musical “Annie”

Last Thursday the Luyfe Drama Club put on a spectacular adaptation of the Broadway musical ‘Annie’. The musical is about an orphan who wants to find her parents. She is invited to spend a week at the mansion of the very wealthy Mr. Warbucks and they find in each other the family they both need. The story takes on a dramatic twist when Rooster and Lily pose as Annie’s parents to get a 50 thousand dollar reward from Warbucks. The rest of the orphans arrive a few minutes too late to warn Mr. Warbucks and the final chase ends with Warbucks, Drake and Grace Farrell catching Rooster and Lily. Annie goes to live with Warbucks and all ends with a big finale of the whole crew singing the famous song ‘Tomorrow’.

The children learnt four songs with choreography and all the scenes in English. The play lasted 45 minutes and the audience was entertained the whole time. The students in Drama Club come to class twice a week where we do a lot of drama games, improvisation and then practise the scenes, the songs and the dances for our play. The students also painted the backdrop and brought their own props for the show. These kids put in a lot of hard work and it really paid off because the show was a huge success. The auditorium was almost completely full and the audience loved the play. The students got a huge applause after every scene and every song they performed and a massive applause at the end. The parents commented on how impressed they were and what a great job the young actors did.
