Luyferivas is a UNICEF child rights school that is considered a center of excellence in child rights education. As such, we are honoured to have been invited to participate in the XVII school drawing contest organised by Defensor del Pueblo about human rights.
Although our students are very knowledgable about child rights we spent some time learning about human rights and talking about the Declaration of Human Rights. The students showed a lot of interest and had a lot of questions, particularly about independence of speech and the right to have an opinion and to share it with others.
Once they felt more familiar with the Declaration of Human Rights we asked them to create an original picture about any aspect of human rights or child rights that interested or concerned them. The students handed in their pictures last week and we had the very difficult task of making the selection of those that would be sent on to the contest. It was not an easy task as many of the pictures were so beautifully done, but in the end we narrowed it down to twenty-four pictures that were the most original and well done for their age group. The selected students are:
Daniel Brea Ruiz
Hugo Cabezas Dadillos
Carmen Casquero Ruiz-Berdejo
María Ciobanu Capus
