All around the world February is dressed up, it’s Carnival time! Carnival, that pagan holiday that many people expect like a breath of fresh air, and hated by others. It announces the farewell of the meat during the time of Lent. There are many ways to celebrate Carnival; however, there´s a common feature from its origin since nowadays; that it is considered a period of permissiveness and some lack of control, where you can become for a few hours in anything you want.

Millions of people are waiting for the arrival of this party to express their creativity through the costumes they have chosen or designed with such love and dedication. There are countless important parades all over the world where music, joy, the festival of colors and dancing are the main course of the party.

Some of the best known parades are the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Mardi Gras of New Orleans, United States; the Carnivals of Oruro, Bolivia, recognized as World Cultural Heritage of Humanity; the classic and most elegant of all, the Carnivals of Venice, where the use of the mask is practically indispensable; and of course … our beloved Carnival of Tenerife and Cádiz and their famous `Chirigotas´, where different troupes compete with each other through songs full of satire and criticisms of political and everyday life.

As we can see we can find thousands of different ways to celebrate Carnivals around the world and as it is said, there are different strokes for different folks; the important thing is to have fun and enjoy every magical moment that this picturesque party offers us.
