Last Wednesday 13 December the English Drama Club at Luyferivas celebrated their annual Christmas pageant.  The children presented two plays this year: ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and Frosty the Snowman.

´Twas the Night Before Christmas is a classic Christmas tale written by Clement C. Moore.  It tells the story of Santa Claus visiting one family’s house.  The play started with two adorable mice narrating the story.  Then the rest of the characters went on to narrate different parts with wonderful bits of humorous dialogue thrown in.  Some highlights of the play were when mum told dad off for wanting to eat Santa’s biscuits because dad was meant to be on a diet.  Or when Donner the reindeer suggested going to McDonalds because he was hungry and tired of waiting for Santa.

Frosty the Snowman was first written as a song by Walter Rollins and Steve Nelson.  Later it was developed into a TV Christmas special which tells how a snowman came to life thanks to a special magic hat.  Many of the actors in this play have been participating in the Drama Club for several years and their talent really shone through.  The dialogues were convincing and some of the actors even improvised on-stage!  The interaction between the evil magician and the traffic cop showed a particular dynamic that was a pleasure to watch.

All in all, the evening was a huge success with a great turnout and two excellent plays.  We look forward to seeing you all at our summer production of Alice in Wonderland!
