YLE – Reviewing animals on the iPad

Most children like animals and enjoy learning the names of the different animals at school. In younger years we often learn about farm animals. We then go on to learn about pets or even jungle animals. By Year 4, children at Luyfe are expected to know the animals from most ecosystems so last week we took some time to review them.

First the students practised writing the animals in their books. Then we played charades to incorporate kinaesthetic learning into the classroom. The kids love having a turn to come up to the front of the class to act out different animals, and although it may sound easy, try being a cow when you aren’t allowed to make any noises! Finally we went on to do activities on our iPads to solidify the students’ knowledge. There are a plethora of games available to review vocabulary online and we enjoyed playing a few. The game the kids liked best was called Fast English from the website www.gamestolearnenglish.com  If they would like, they are welcome to keep practising on this website at home!
