When I grow up I’ll be…

Life is full of priceless things and moments, some of which are so evident and clear that everybody asumes because they’ve always been sort of classified as unquestionable or undeniable facts: health, family, love…

Being as lucky as to work as something you know you have a call for and feeling that what you give everyday is much less than what you receive is another priceless value that we, teachers, can boast about.

There’s no easy job or job that requires no effort and being a teacher is hard and demanding but it is rewarding. When we ask our students what they’d like to be when they grow up, they usually lean towards professions that will make them become a millionaire and live in a big mansion or drive the most luxurious cars. It’s not easy work to convince someone, adult or child, of how satisfying it is living an ordinary life, with an ordinary house or car but getting up in the early morning with the incomparable feeling that lots of people are looking forward to seeing you and hearing you and hugging you again.

Even when hard times come and physical and mental exhaustion seem to be about to make you give up, there comes an innocent drawing to the best teacher in the whole world that gives you an extra of energy to keep on doing your best so that they can receive from you what they deserve. We know how important we are for our pupils: idols, examples, guides, models…but our pupils are not really aware of how important they are for us.

This is a kind of tribute to them, our kids at Luyfe, who, unconsciously, fill our lives with priceless moments and write for us, in beautiful coloured letters things like: A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to give light to others. THANKS
