Valentine´s Day Project

Valentine’s Day is a popular celebration in schools in English speaking countries. Children typically make or buy cards to give to their friends, family and teachers. At Luyfe we have adopted this tradition and the children in primary make a Valentine´s Day card in their Arts and Crafts lessons. It is an opportunity for the children to learn about the English culture around Valentine’s Day and to put their fine-motor skills to work cutting and pasting. The children really enjoy making the crafts because it is something different from the worksheets they often do and they love making something special for their parents.

The children in Year 1 made ‘headphone holders’ out of clothes pegs and in Years 2 and 3 they made heart-shaped cards. In Year 4 the children were given more freedom to be creative and they cut out hearts from red and pink wrapping paper which they then glued onto white card. The final result was beautiful! The children proudly went home with their lovely cards on Thursday 14 February.
