It is the last week of school at Luyferivas and the Year 4 children are doing something special in their YLE classes. A few months ago these students began preparing puppet shows. They chose their characters and developed them, they came up with a plot for their stories and then they wrote the dialogue. The kids have been practicing their puppet shows and learning them by memory. We’ve also worked on voice projection and breathing exercises in class to help the children be heard when performing. And now all the hard work is paying off as the Year 4 students are performing their puppet shows for the nursery school children.

Each of the Year 4 classes has gone down to our nursery school at Luyfe to present their puppet shows behind our lovely puppet stage. In turn, each of the nursery school classes has had the opportunity to come and enjoy the shows. It is wonderful to see the enthusiasm with which the Year 4 students have prepared their shows and how excited they are to meet the nursery school children. After the show the actors play with the young students and introduce them to the puppets.  All of this takes place in English!

This type of activity has shown the nursery school children how we use and improve our English in primary and it is such a lovely opportunity for the children to interact in a foreign language, putting the year’s learning into practice. All of the children have been highly motivated to use English in a new context and are looking forward to doing more activities of this type next year.

Well done kids! Have a great summer!
