Official exams (YLE and KET)

As every single year at Luyferivas school, our students have demonstrated their English skills taking the Cambridge English exams. These exams are part of the university of Cambridge and are recognised by more than 20,000 institutions all over the world. Each exam is based on the levels of the common European Framework of reference (CEFR). Starters is pre-A1 level, movers is A1 level and KET is A2 level within the European Framework.

The YLE and KET official exams are separated into three parts. There is a timed reading and writing test where students have to demonstrated that they understand the written English throughout different texts. Moreover, there is a listening exam where they have to complete different exercises with the information that they tell them. Finally, there is a speaking test where students are required to answer questions about pictures or about themselves (Starters, Movers and KET), to tell a story (Movers) and to keep a conversation with a partner (KET).

On Tuesday 18 June, the turn was for year 2 (Starters) and 4 (Movers). They went into their official exams feeling confident but with unavoidable nerves. However, by the end of the test, all of the students said that the exam had been “easy-peasy”!!

On Wednesday 19 June, the KET students took their official exam but they had the same sensations as year 2 and 4 students.  They felt so prepared that they were sure they would do it really well.

All the students who pass their official exam will receive a certificate in September that will be handed out by their tutors. On the certificate they will receive Shields for each of the three parts (Starters and Movers) or three scores with an overall result for the exam (KET).

These Cambridge official exams are a tradition at Luyferivas school. Every year, the school gives the opportunity to their students to take these important and recognised exams because at Luyferivas, we believe in the importance of knowing English as a tool to be successful in studies and consequently in the job.

Last year, the percentage of passed students was almost 100%, and this year we are pretty sure that the results will continue like this. Congratulations kids!!
