For the last few years our Facebook and news feeds have been filled with horrific stories of the war in Syria and the injustices that have been committed and continue to occur on a daily basis.

It is hugely important that we imbue our children with an awareness of and conscience towards people in the world that have less than us, and at the same time teach them to be grateful for what they already have. (As a lovely side effect, gratitude is closely linked to happiness… The more thankful someone is for what they have, the happier they are!)

There's a great organisation in Madrid called AAPS that collects various essential items and has them delivered to towns in Syria with the help of the White Helmets and other NGOs. Colegio Luyferivas is organising a collection for them.

Here are the things we need:

~Canned food (no pork)
~New and used (but clean) blankets
~Baby food and powdered milk
~School material (but no books in Spanish or English as it is an Arabic speaking country)
~Toys (new or used, have to be in working order)
~Sanitary towels
~Hospital material: crutches, wheelchairs, prosthetics
~Baby and adult nappies/diapers
~Toiletries such as new toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap etc.

NO CLOTHES NECESSARY

We will be collecting until the end of the month. If you'd like to help, please bring the items to the school and they will be collected from the classrooms.
